Prices of both fuels rose by nearly 1%, or less than 1 rupee, with gasoline now sold at 99.51 rupees ($1.0399) and diesel at 92.49 rupees per liter in New Delhi, according to the website of Indian Oil Corp., the country’s largest fuel retailer. Prices vary across India due to local taxes.

Smaller peers Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd. and Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd. too raised prices in the same range.

Trump said that it was “important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time.”

Both Axios and CBS said that a final decision on new strikes hasn’t been made.

Negotiations are said to be ongoing, with Pakistan — which is mediating between the US and Iran — sending its military chief to Tehran in an attempt to seal a deal.

The White House did not comment on the reports when AFP inquired about them.

CBS said that a White House spokesperson, Anna Kelly, told them that “the President has been clear about the consequences if Iran fails to make a deal.”

Araghchi, in a telephonic conversation with Guterres, said the US had repeatedly undermined diplomacy through broken promises, contradictory positions, and military aggression, but Iran is engaging in the truce talks.

The discussions focused on reviewing the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), signed by 191 countries, which limits nuclear weapons to China, France, Russia, the UK and the US. A draft text stressed that Iran must “never” develop nuclear weapons.

Besides the five recognised nuclear powers, India, Pakistan, Israel and North Korea also possess nuclear weapons. According to SIPRI, the US and Russia together hold about 90% of the world’s 12,241 nuclear warheads as of January 2025.
