US President Donald Trump on Wednesday claimed America had “total control” over the Strait of Hormuz, while saying there was “nothing Iran can do about it.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that the US “will keep” the strait, adding that their naval blockade was being called “A Wall of Steel.”
“The USA has total control over the Strait of Hormuz. I THINK WE WILL KEEP IT! Our Naval Blockade is being called, by everyone, “A WALL OF STEEL,” and there is nothing Iran can do about it,” the US President said.
‘Fake news and 300% inflation’: Trump on Iran
In his post, Trump alleged that Iran had “no navy” and “no air force”, further claiming that their leadership was “uncertain.”
“They have no Navy, they have no Air Force, their remaining soldiers are unpaid, the IRGC is decimated and fleeing, and their “Leadership” is uncertain, at best!” the US President said. He further claimed that Tehran has “no money” and “their country is “shot (sic).””
“All they have is FAKE NEWS and 300% INFLATION, and getting worse!” Trump alleged. He referred to Iran as the “bully of the Middle East”. “Iran is all talk and no action, the Bully of the Middle East No Longer. Praise be to Allah! President DONALD J. TRUMP,” he said.
Iran’s shift to ‘offensive doctrine’ amid stalled US talks
Trump’s post comes even as Iran has allegedly reorganised its military to be more aggressive abroad amid stalled talks with the US. According to Mohammad Reza Naqdi, adviser to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander, said in an interview with state TV late Tuesday that there has been a raft of top military appointments by Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, marking the shift to an “offensive doctrine”, Bloomberg reported.
“Whenever the conditions are favorable and the order is issued, we must be able to take the operation into enemy territory,” Naqdi, also a generation of the IRGC, said. This is in contrast to Iran’s earlier approach, which was based on “defense and the preservation of the country.”
