The Cockroach Janta Party political campaign alleged on Saturday that the father of one of their volunteers in West Bengal’s Bankura district died after being critically injured by Bharatiya Janata Party workers.
The incident took place in Karisunda village of the district’s Indus block. The local police confirmed to Scroll that a person had died. However, they claimed that they were yet to receive a complaint regarding this.
On the other hand, the Cockroach Janta Party alleged that when the volunteer, Abdul, approached the police, they refused to file a complaint.

In a video posted on social media on Thursday, Abdul said he had visited a primary school in Karisunda to conduct a survey as part of the Cockroach Janta Party’s nationwide campaign to improve government schools in villages.
He alleged that BJP workers arrived at his home later that day and assaulted him and his family. His father had sustained an injury on his head.

Abdul was harassed and intimidated further after he posted the video, alleged Ratna Singh, the legal affairs head of Cockroach Janta Party, on Friday.
“These individuals have now allegedly gheraoed his house, preventing Abdul and his family from leaving,” she alleged.
Singh added: “Local police officials have refused to take action. The police’s responsibility is to maintain law and order and protect citizens, not to shield or enable those accused of intimidation.”
Singh told Scroll that Abdul’s father died of his injuries on Friday night.
“Police, who are responsible for maintaining law and order, did not do their duty,” she said. “They are equally liable in this death. The CJP is providing all possible support to Abdul at the moment.”
Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke said that a team of the political campaign will visit West Bengal and “ensure that Abdul and his family get justice”.
“We demand the immediate arrest of those responsible for his father’s death,” he added.
Abdul went to inspect the govt school in Bengal where he once studied. He lost his father after they were attacked by goons (allegedly from BJP) for speaking up about the poor condition of govt schools.
