Jagan Mohan Reddy accuses NDA govt. in Andhra Pradesh of pursuing vindictive politics

Alleging that law and order is deteriorating in the State, former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has said the coalition government is pursuing vindictive politics and will have to repent in the coming days. The government is targeting BC leaders and the cases against the YSRCP leaders from backward classes stand as an example to this, he alleged.

Speaking to the media here on Thursday, after meeting Alur MLA B. Virupakshi who was lodged in a prison here in an SC/ST Atrocities case, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said it has become a common practice in the TDP coalition government to ‘’name victims as accused and file false cases against them to gag the Opposition’’.

“False cases were filed against Mr. Virupakshi and the ‘Red Book constitution’ is in full play in booking the sitting MLA, his kin and followers in fabricated cases. The names of some of the accused have been mentioned twice in a case,” he said and added that police had barged into the house of the MLA, destroyed the CCTV cameras and arrested the people’s representative. Serious charges were slapped on him and his followers, he said.

The MLA had gone to the rescue of his followers after the police failed to act when a party worker was being attacked. “It was the MLA who escorted his follower, Hari, to safety when the TDP goons attacked the car, gravely injuring the MLA’s brother but cases were registered against the YSRCP leaders rather than the TDP workers,” he alleged.

Citing other cases of BC leaders being allegedly targeted, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said former Minister Seediri Appalaraju was jailed ‘’after converting a simple road accident case into a case with serious charges’’. Another BC leader Chinthada Ravi was arrested on charges of assaulting a woman police officer whereas the leader was helping the police in clearing the mob.

“The motive is clearly to trouble the political adversaries by foisting false cases but days will not be the same, and the people pursuing ‘Red Book constitution’ will have to repent in the coming days,” he said.

Stating that it was the previous YSRCP government that had initiated police reforms, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that when he went to meet the MLA, the police took his photo from an inappropriate angle in a standing posture.
