Kakinada police on Friday arrested two transgender persons for allegedly beating a man to death with sticks. The accused, identified as Saipogu Kiranmayi alias Jessy and Reddipogu Ajay Kumar alias Puppy, have been produced before a local court in Kakinada on Friday and they were sent to custody.
The incident occurred at Jyothula Colony in Kakinada on August 3, when Jessy and Puppy were collecting money from a shop, 41-year-old R. Siva, a daily wage worker at a private hospital, joined them. A dispute erupted over sharing of collection money among them and it quickly escalated into a fist fight before the two transgender persons thrashed Siva with sticks and threw cement stones at him.
The accused reportedly fled the scene when the locals realised that Siva was severely injured. The victim was rushed to the Government General Hospital in the city. The family members of Siva filed a complaint with the III Town police station in Kakinada after the incident.
Meanwhile, days after Siva was hit, he succumbed to the injuries. “On August 6, Siva was declared dead while undergoing treatment at the hospital,” said III Town Circle Inspector K.V.S. Satyanarayana.
Police scrutinised many CCTV footage to spot the accused and on Friday they arrested the two transgender persons involved and filed a murder case against them.
