Hema Malini praises Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947, says it has a message India needs

Veteran actor Hema Malini has heaped praise on Sunny Deol’s latest film Batwara 1947, calling it “simply brilliant” and highlighting its message of humanity and harmony. The actor shared her review on X after watching the Rajkumar Santoshi directorial.

Hema Malini said the film delivers a message that she believes is particularly relevant today. “I watched the movie Batwara yesterday. Simply brilliant, with a clear message that conveys what the nation needs today (sic),” she wrote.

Highlighting the film’s focus on humanity and communal harmony, she added, “It reminds us that humanity, mutual respect, and harmony are far more important than hatred and division. I hope this beautiful message inspires people to change their mindset and choose kindness over hate (sic).”

She also congratulated Aamir Khan for backing the film, calling it “a timeless film with a message that is truly the need of the hour.”

“Brilliant direction by Rajkumar Santoshi with outstanding performances by Sunny Deol and Shabana Azmi. Also in the cast with good performances were Karan Deol & Preity Zinta. Congratulations to Aamir Khan for producing a timeless film with a message that is truly the need of the hour (sic),” she concluded.

Hema Malini is married to late actor Dharmendra, Sunny Deol’s father, making her Sunny’s stepmother.

Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi, Batwara 1947 marks the reunion of Santoshi and Sunny Deol after nearly three decades. The duo has previously worked together on acclaimed films such as Ghayal (1990), Damini (1993) and Ghatak (1996).

Produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, the film features music by AR Rahman, with lyrics written by Javed Akhtar.
